Na Na Accessories Workshop by Precious Plastic Bangkok

July 8, 2026

Precious Plastic Bangkok (PPB) hosted the Na Na Accessories Workshop at Bangkok 1899’s Gallery Room for Na Café visitors. Participants designed their own bracelets, hair clips and keychains using colorful recycled plastic beads made by PPB. Through this workshop, everyone learned about waste pollution in a fun, engaging way while enjoying the historic atmosphere and sipping refreshing drinks from Na Café.

Living, Waiting, Hoping: World Refugee Day

June 20, 2026

In collaboration with Asylum Access Thailand, Na Projects hosted Living, Waiting, Hoping event to honor and celebrate World Refugee Day at Bangkok 1899. The event spanned from informative booths to learn more about urban refugees, exhibitions, market stalls, cooking workshops, screenings, panel discussions and a Hmong performance. It was an evening that brought refugee communities and Bangkok together through food, film, conversation and art.

Nang Loeng Community Health Activity & Workshop

Students and dedicated faculty from the Applied Thai Traditional Medicine program, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, brought meaningful health support to the Nang Loeng community and Ford Community Center members. This activity was organized by Baan Nanglerng and COMMUNITY LAB.

DCCE Opens Urban Low-Carbon Learning Center Model — "Nang Loeng Model"

March 24, 2026

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment through the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE), officially launched the "Low-Carbon Learning Centre Bangkok — Nang Loeng Model: Community-Based Tourism for a Cooler Planet." The opening ceremony was presided over by Deputy Director-General Mr. Komet Phuttason. The centre aims to establish a model site for climate change adaptation in an urban context, showcasing the integration of cultural heritage and traditional ways of life with modern environmental management.

Ford Community Center Bangkok Expansion

The doors of the expanded Ford Community Center Bangkok are officially open – three buildings, one shared purpose: to grow, connect and uplift the Nang Loeng community. Opening for the very first time, our third building (the Community Center) welcomes every generation with programs for learning, wellness, mental health and shared meals. Three buildings. Bar Na Listening Bar Sessions

March - May 2026

Bar Na has returned in 2026 with two sessions so far — DJs including Third Culture Circuit and TapeJam. Bar Na is a listening bar by Na Projects — a platform using food, beverages and sound as tools to bring people together, build community and create social and cultural impact.

Leaders of Tomorrow Exhibition Opening

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Bangkok 1899 held WARIS and Stine’s joint exhibition opening with limited edition prints and one-of-a-kind canvases produced for this occasion. Guests explored the artists’ works in the Gallery Room, picked up spray paint cans to paint a collective mural in the garden, enjoyed a live DJ session by JASMINUM and celebrated creativity, collaboration and the women shaping urban art – all while enjoying food and drinks by Na Projects.

ปลุกเสก: Community Alchemy Exhibition

February 25 - March 4, 2026

This exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Alina Teodorescu proposed a participatory act of symbolic revaluation. Instead of extracting new resources, the project invited participants to apply gold leaf to discarded wooden furniture from Satri Julanak School, one of Thailand’s historically progressive educational institutions.

Se(w)cular Stitches: Kantha Connections Stitching Circle Workshop

January 11, 2026

This stitching circle held at Bangkok 1899’s garden was a morning of learning the histories of embroidery and textiles from India, Northern Thailand and Laos with our facilitators Rubina from Rafunaama and Rachna from Tikkiwallah. The workshop ended with the stitching session, inviting participants to weave together the histories they carry and the futures they imagine. It was a beautiful morning of collective making and shared reflection.

Galleries’ Nights: Cosmic Corals Closing Workshop - Create & Reflect

Thank you to everyone who joined the “Art for Therapy” workshop as we celebrated the final day of Shereif Eldesouky’s Cosmic Corals exhibition at Bangkok 1899. It was an evening filled with personal reflection, creativity and inspiring conversations. This program was proudly presented as part of Galleries’ Nights, organized by Sawasdee France.

Climate Playground: Connect Creatives for Climate Action by neo-baannok

An open and collaborative environment designed to bring together creatives, change-makers, funders, journalists and anyone searching for fresh inspiration. This event hopes to create a space where youth can take part in shaping climate policy and action together, spark new energy between creatives and advocates and amplify voices that are too often left unheard. Climate Playground was a part of Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW) 2025.

LCOY Thailand: National Edition

October 4, 2025

At the Local Conference of Youth Thailand themed “Gen Climate: Voices for Justice, Actions for Change” co-organized by UNDP and Thammasat University’s Sanya Dharmasakti Institute for Democracy, young people came together to share ideas and policy proposals on issues like inclusive urban development, GEDSI, air pollution, clean energy and sustainable finance. Their recommendations were submitted to Thailand’s Department of Climate Change, relevant government agencies and presented at COP30.

Ancestral Currents took over Bangkok 1899! The night unfolded in three chapters—meditation, performance and connection—each celebrating collaboration and unexpected experiences by clashing cultures, genres and disciplines. This event was free to attend with advance application.

S3K | Preserve Performance by Notep & Cyrus James Khan

Notep (Thai musician & environmentalist) and Cyrus James Khan (digital artist & technologist) took us on a journey into Mangrove Forest Restoration on Koh Tao through their visionary project S3K, where science, storytelling & spectacle came alive. Their audience experienced immersive soundscapes, stunning visuals and a powerful reminder of our connection to nature.

Take a glimpse into the The Prom Prap Table: A Food Literacy Dinner event. Presented by Na Projects and curated by Nammon and Palm, the dinner took guests through the cuisine of Nang Loeng, Pom Prap Sattru Phai. Each dish was presented along with a brief backstory into local history that has been passed down through generations.

Sak Yant Exhibition

Bangkok 1899 hosted a photo exhibition and a series of activities on the sacred Thai traditional practice of Sak Yant with Beam Musikaboonlert and Ajarn Krit Naeuttarang (Bangpu). This exhibition celebrated and honored the artistry, craftsmanship, history and sacred magic of the Sak Yant heritage, as well as the lineage of Ajarn Krit.

Roots & Resilience: World Refugee Day

Na Projects hosted Roots & Resilience, a special event to honor World Refugee Day, to celebrate the culture, creativity and strength of displaced communities living in Thailand. There was a refugee-led food and craft market in our garden, featuring henna art, handmade textiles and unique goods from around the world.

A Night for Myanmar: Fundraising Dinner

Held at Na Café, this fundraising dinner raised 184,970 THB for Medical Action Myanmar to support earthquake relief efforts. Huge thanks to Chef Trish of Bamama, the amazing DJs and performers and Wine Garage for generously donating their time, talent and support. You brought warmth, flavor and rhythm to the cause.

Siamese Twins Records X Kismet Event

November, 2024

Siamese Twins Records presented their first art exhibition [UNTANGLED] in November, featuring illustrations and stories from their co-founder Taychin Dunnvatanachit. Apart from featuring amazing music all day from top local talents as well as a special international guest, the event was catered by Na Projects and Bar Na.

Lab X Artist Residency Exchange

August - November, 2024

We had the pleasure of hosting movement practitioner and dancer James Gallego Olivo as part of Lab X. Lab X was a pilot artistic residency and cultural exchange between Thailand and the UK, hosted in collaboration with Creative Migration at Bangkok 1899 and Artsadmin, and supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture program.

Entertainment + Culture Pavilion

June 28-29, 2024

The Entertainment + Culture Pavilion is a hub for creativity, activity, ambition and hope. In partnership with Creative Migration, The Convergence, and Green and Beyond Magazine, E+C Pavilion co-designed a few days of programming at Bangkok 1899 to host the first Entertainment + Culture Pavilion in Southeast Asia.

Songkran Celebration 2024

To celebrate the Songkran holiday, Bangkok 1899 and FREC Bangkok hosted a merit making ceremony in the morning and a water ceremony to pay respect to community elders in the Nang Loeng neighborhood. It was a lively day that brought community members together to highlight the Thai New Year.

Maxnifier II: From Ganges to Chao Phraya

The second exhibition, “Maxnifier II,” was held at Bangkok 1899, a historic residence of Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri on Nakhon Sawan Road that is over a century old. Under the theme “From Ganges to Chao Phraya,” the exhibition explored the shared stories, beliefs, and reflections of Indian and Thai artists.

Phi Ta Kon Festival Boat Party

August 1, 2020

Phi Ta Kon is a three-day Thai Festival which happens in Loei (Isaan) every year in June. Similar in concept to Halloween, Phi Ta Kon is a festival centered around the belief that spirits will wake up during these three days to haunt the living! As such, locals will don large, colorful patchwork masks, clothes and bells to scare off the spirits. However, due to COVID-19, the event was cancelled for the year.

On May 30th 2019, Bangkok 1899 and its NGO partners, such as Scholar of Sustenance (SOS), Ford Motor Company Fund and Na Café, ran a charity lunch event called "Marriott's Chef Surplus Cooking Challenge" with Marriott Hotel.

Bangkok 1899 Soft Opening

Bangkok 1899’s Official Preview & Soft Opening on February 16th: an evening of musical and sound performances from our inaugural artist-in-residence Shayne P Carter and his Thai collaborators. The response was overwhelming, with close to 250 guests attending. Big thanks to Creative New Zealand Foundation, Asia New Zealand Foundation and New Zealand Embassy - Bangkok, Thailand for supporting this residency.

Prior to Bangkok 1899’s launch, the property went through a big renovation. For a service day activity, The Rockefeller Foundation participated in helping refurbish the space. In 2017, The Rockefeller Foundation became Creative Migration's first funder for Bangkok 1899 with a two-year grant. This support helped to establish our Thai foundation, Creative Migration (East), to operate the space.
