Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bangkok 1899?
Bangkok 1899 is a cultural and civic hub established by the arts nonprofit Creative Migration in partnership with Na Projects.
Are you a museum?
No, we're a cultural center, like many that you would find in Europe. Our convivial atmosphere hosts gatherings, exhibitions, performances, workshops and screenings. During the day, our space is open to the public: encouraging individuals to pursue the lost art of leisure, engage in spontaneous discussions, experience art and open up avenues of creativity.
We collaborate with Na Projects, who opened Na Café on the first floor and also provides catering for all our events. We are part of the Ford Community Center campus, which hosts 7 other NGO’s with like-minded programming, all of which Bangkok 1899 collaborates with regularly.
How can I support you? Does Bangkok 1899 accept donations?
Your financial contribution is greatly appreciated. We accept cash donations on-site. You can also send us a cheque to our address or make a deposit through our bank account, for further details please visit our Support page.
Do you accept interns or volunteers?
If you are interested in interning or volunteering, please send us a message through our Contact page.
Who can I connect with for general/corporate enquiries?
Please send us a message through the form on our Contact page and let us know what information you need for us to connect you with the right person.
Are you open for artist residency applications or project proposals?
Unfortunately, we currently don't accept solicitations for the residency or projects.
Do you have parking available?
We encourage patrons to use public transport, carpooling and/or taxis instead of driving. Unfortunately, there is no public parking available. If you are driving, you may park at Wat Soonthorn Thammathan (5 min walk).
I would like to rent the space for an event, what is the process like?
Please send your request through our website. You can find more information on our Venue Rental page.
Are there any types of activities prohibited in the space?
We are a nonprofit space, which means any commercial activities that do not contribute to a positive social impact are discouraged. We also do not support any events or gatherings that discriminate against another group of people based on race, religion, sex, age, military status, veteran status, disability, medical condition, marital status, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. We are tolerant and welcoming to all at Bangkok 1899.
What is your policy on selecting activities to be organized in the space?
Activities at Bangkok 1899 must be aligned with our mission, vision and values. For more information, please refer to our Program page.
