Maxnifier II: From Ganges to Chao Phraya

October 15 - November 15, 2023

The second exhibition, “Maxnifier II,” was held at Bangkok 1899, a historic residence of Chao Phraya Thammasakmontri on Nakhon Sawan Road that is over a century old. Under the theme “From Ganges to Chao Phraya,” the exhibition explored the shared stories, beliefs, and reflections of Indian and Thai artists from ml3print studio and the Pressure Print Exchange, along with printmaking professors from Poh Chang College, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin.

Curated as a photo essay where more than 30 prints were showcased, the exhibition invited viewers to step back in time—when printmaking served as a form of illustration in early publishing. The narrative approach allowed audiences to engage their imagination, weaving connections between each work and contemplating the deep-rooted ties between Body, Mind, and Soul shared by Thailand and India, from past to present, in the unique setting of Bangkok 1899.

As each piece linked visually and thematically to the next, the exhibition revived a sense of imagination lost to time—encouraging reflection on both the similarities and differences between the two cultures. Through the medium of graphic art, “From Ganges to Chao Phraya” became a journey of understanding, bridging the Ganges River basin with one of Thailand’s most significant historical landmarks.
