Shereif Eldesouky

September - November, 2025

Shereif Eldesouky is an Egyptian mixed media artist and painter currently based in Bangkok. Born in Saudi Arabia, Eldesouky grew up between Saudi and the UK. He moved to Egypt during his high school and university years where he earned his B.A. in integrated marketing communications & a minor in fine arts from the American University in Cairo.

His professional background started in creative advertising, branding, and events management in Cairo, moving to Jordan where he worked in tourism destination marketing. He later shifted his career to becoming a freelance artist when he relocated to the Philippines and then Washington D.C. where he worked at the National Gallery of Art. Eldesouky creates immersive surreal worlds vivid in color and imagery. His painting technique reflects a broad range of emotion through its fluidity as it draws inspiration from the natural world.

Cosmic Corals is an effort to commemorate a past memory and celebrate the resilience and enduring bonds of sibling love through the metaphor of an everchanging reef being lost and rehabilitated. It reminds us that even the same emotional tides that drift us apart can also draw us back together – just as corals, even after bleaching, hold the potential for revival. In the expression of sorrow and rebirth, the exhibition holds space for hope, forgiveness and regrowth, framing separation and reunion as natural stages of progress.

Eldesouky’s process mirrors the reef’s transformation: he creates multiple paintings, deconstructing them, to then bind them back together into new forms that embody reformation. In doing so, the works invite viewers to consider the fragility and resilience of their own bonds, and to reflect on our shared future with the sea and the ecosystems that sustain life.
