Raidene Carter

Raidene Carter is a creative producer and arts leaders with 25 years practice spanning arts education, community and youth participation, artist development, new work, public engagement and programming. In this time she worked for Talawa Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Birmingham REP, the Albany Deptford, Wac Arts and Theatre Centre, before joining the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games as Executive Producer (Cultural Programmes & Live Sites). Here, Raidene led the Birmingham 2022 Festival, the 6-month festival of creativity wrapped around the Games, and the following year, as Creative Director, led Birmingham Festival 23, a 10-day city-centre celebration marking the one-year anniversary of the Games. Raidene is currently Artistic Director and Co-CEO of Artsadmin in East London, which works locally, nationally and internationally to support, produce and tour the work of live and performance-based artists.

Raidene was a London Theatre Consortium & MOBO Fellow (2016) and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (2021). An experienced trustee, she is proud to be on the board of China Plate Theatre Company and deputy chair for Open Theatre. Raidene is a keen Yogi in her spare time and completed her 200 hours teacher training practice in 2026.

Raidene will be staying at Bangkok 1899’s artist residency in October as part of Lab XL, a collaboration between Creative Migration/Bangkok 1899 and Artsadmin, supported by the British Council's Connections Through Culture program.
