Kodo Chijiiwa

Born in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan in 1976, Kodo Chijiiwa is a photographer. He began his career in 2008 with a solo exhibition while residing in Germany. In 2019, he was invited as the first artist-in-residence at BZH PHOTO. In 2023, he held a solo exhibition at the M.K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art. Since 2015, he has served as a co-founder of the YAKUSHIMA PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL (YPF), a joint Japan-France initiative.

Kodo Chijiiwa stayed at the Bangkok 1899 Artist Residency from January 9-31, 2026, researching and developing his new photography project in Thailand. He experimented on capturing the light from Bangkok 1899’s windows using cyanotype and coconut husk paper as one of his projects. He also traveled to Nan province during this residency and collected images for his photography project.
