
Jairo Ortiz

Born in Morelia, Mexico, Jairo Ortiz is a Member of Mexico ́s National Symphony Orchestra based at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. He received the 2015 National Youth Award directly by the President of Mexico. He graduated after a full scholarship from the Master's Degree in Cello Performance at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, USA.
In 2018, he was selected as international fellow of the City Music Foundation in London. Currently, Ortiz is also main conductor of the Los Pinos Community Orchestra with 60 children learning music in Mexico City.
On August 19, cellist and cultural educator Jairo Ortiz performed at a special dinner hosted by Na Projects at Bangkok 1899, celebrating Nang Loeng’s rich culinary heritage through traditional recipes and stories.
